Preparing for Further Education Reforms Whilst Meeting the Needs of Students and Employers

An FE college Principal’s view of the education reform landscape and the challenges faced, focusing on navigating the policy agenda to position Boston College to meet the needs of employers and learners. Reflections and recommendations on the type of relationship colleges and the Awarding sector could have moving forward in order to meet the needs of key stakeholders.

Key points:

  1. The future of applied general qualifications are a key component for successful reforms and more lobbying is needed to retain them at the current funding rates and stabilise the landscape.

  2. College executives would benefit from more strategic relationships and improved communication with the Awarding sector in order to manage student success and business growth effectively.
