Regulatory Issues
The new independent regulator
Ofqual, the Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator, is the new regulator of qualifications, exams and tests in England.
The government will be bringing in legislation to establish Ofqual as the regulator of qualifications. Until this legislation is passed, Ofqual will operate as part of the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority. Afterwards, Ofqual will be accountable to parliament rather than to government ministers. FAB is working with QCA and the government to influence this new development.
FAB's response to the consultation Confidence in Standards: Regulating and Developing Qualifications and Assessment is available on the members section of the FAB website.
