Notes from Q&A sessions of day 1 and day 2
This year has been another year of change to the vocational qualifications landscape and the awarding industry. The Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Bill, which is currently progressing through Parliament, sets out the roles of Ofqual as our new independent regulator and the future role of the Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency.
‘QCF readiness’ has been a key focus of much of our activities throughout the year as many of us have been gearing up to be able to operate within the new qualifications framework.
Challenges have been presented to us by working within different frameworks and under differing regulatory arrangements, bearing in mind that many of us operate across the UK.
Amid all this change, it is sometimes easy to forget the reason why every one of us is here and working to our best endeavour, and that is, of course, to ensure that we are meeting the needs of learners.
The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) is the trade body and membership organisation for awarding bodies in the UK. FAB’s Annual National Conference is the not-to-be-missed date in the vocational qualifications sector diary, where the themes outlined above will be discussed and debated by key partners. It will be of particular interest to awarding bodies, employers, providers and to the UK governments and regulators.
As with previous years, there are one and two day packages available as well as the FAB networking dinner.
The following organisations will be exhibiting at this year's Conference:
- The Deparment for Business, Inovation and Skills (BIS)
